Game, Set, refill at the Australian Open 2026

This year meetpat was proud to be one of the premier water suppliers at the Australian Open, working in partnership with Transplumb Events to deliver a strategic hydration solution across one of the world’s leading sporting events. With 43 meetpat water stations deployed across the Melbourne Park precinct, we provided convenient, chilled drinking water to fans, staff and players throughout the tournament — helping keep everyone refreshed while reducing reliance on single-use plastics.

Real Results from Smart Infrastructure

Over the course of the event:

  • 26,912 litres of water were refilled through meetpat stations
  • 44,853 single-use plastic bottles were avoided
  • 4,279kg of CO₂ emissions were prevented through reduced bottle production

These figures demonstrate what happens when event planners prioritise sustainable infrastructure solutions: measurable impact, reduced waste and a better experience for everyone onsite.

Why It Matters

Major events like the Australian Open attract tens of thousands of people in a short period — and with that comes a significant demand for safe, accessible hydration. Traditional approaches often rely heavily on pre-bottled water, which contributes to waste streams and logistical complexity.

  • By contrast, meetpat’s refill stations:
  • Deliver high-quality hydration at scale
  • Reduce single-use plastic dependenceSupport broader environmental goals through measurable carbon avoidance

This project doubled meetpat’s impact compared to similar rollouts in previous years — a sign that sustainability at scale is not only possible but increasingly expected by fans, organisers and partners alike.

Looking Ahead

As organisations and venues seek to embed sustainability into their operations, hydration infrastructure is quickly becoming a key consideration. Whether it’s major sporting events, festivals, campuses or corporate spaces, the logic is the same: better infrastructure leads to better outcomes.

If you’re exploring ways to reduce single-use plastics, enhance visitor experience and measure environmental performance across your sites or events, meetpat can help — with proven results from one of the world’s most high-profile sporting stages. This project doubled meetpat’s impact compared to similar rollouts in previous years — a sign that sustainability at scale is not only possible but increasingly expected by fans, organisers and partners alike.
